Milling and Resurfacing

A commercial parking lot that has only surface defects with minimal or no evident base failure may be a good candidate for Milling & Resurfacing. This is a cost effective remedy to give your commercial parking lot a great new look and increase the longevity of its lifespan.

The Milling and Resurfacing process begins by milling the surface course off with a grinding machine typically 1.5″ to 2″ depending on the asphalt layer thickness. This should expose the binder course of asphalt.

Once the binder course has been exposed it will be thoroughly inspected for defects along with any evidentiary base failures that may become necessary to address in order to achieve a suitable surface for the application of the new asphalt surface layer.

Once the base and binder course have been either repaired or determined satisfactory the next phase begins. SS-1 Emulsion Primer is applied to the entire area as a tacking agent to adhere the new asphalt to the existing asphalt binder course. The hot surface asphalt mix, based on the desired thickness is then applied, rolled, and compacted on to the existing asphalt.

Once the asphalt has been installed, any desired pavement markings can be applied along with signs, posts, concrete car stops, or other necessary parking lot device
